JOSEFINA LY-USON\nAssociate Professor\, Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine\, UP-PGH\nChair\, UP College of Medicine Student Resiliency and Wellness Committee\nAdviser\, PGH Wellness Program\n\nReactors:\nDR. NOEL D.J. ATIENZA\nDean\, College of Medicine\nSan Beda University\n\nDR. TERESITA CADIZ-BRION\nFormer Dean\, College of Public Health\nPamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila\nSynthesis and Closing Remarks:\n\nDR. STELLA MARIE L. JOSE\nDeputy Director for Health Operations\nUP Philippine General Hospital\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #127\nNovember 25\, 2022\n“PARA! GUSTO KO BUMABA! It’s Okay not to feel Okay”\n\nHow have you been during the pandemic? “Kamusta?” Have you been feeling okay? Or are you harboring very negative thoughts and an inability to see the future? Are you irritable or even agitated? Are you sleeping well\, eating well\, living well? Is this the first time in your life you have felt “not okay”?\n\nIf it is the first time you are experiencing these thoughts and feelings\, it is okay. “PARA! GUSTO KO BUMABA! It’s Okay not to feel Okay”\, will tackle stress and the mental health and well-being of health workers and students of the health professions: doctors\, nurses and allied medical professions.\n\nWHO reports that at least a quarter of health and care workers surveyed reported anxiety\, depression and burnout symptoms. It is reported that  23 to 46 percent of health and care workers reported symptoms of anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic and 20 to 37 percent experienced depressive symptoms. Burnout among health and care workers during the pandemic ranged from 41 to 52 percent in pooled estimates.\n\nWhile control methods for COVID-19 have become increasingly definitive and reliable\, we are less confident about how we are approaching the parallel pandemic of mental health problems that have arisen due to multiple stressors at home\, in the community\, in the workplace\, and in schools.\n\nThere are initiatives that are promising. In this webinar of STOP C.O.V.I.D. DEATHS\, Dr. Josefina Ly-Uson\, Associate Professor with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the UP Philippine General Hospital\, will discuss the Wellness program of PGH and the UP College of Medicine. We will also hear from Dr. Noel D.J. Atienza\, Dean of the College of Medicine at the San Beda University\, on efforts being undertaken in San Beda College of Medicine and Dr. Teresita Cadiz-Brion\, Former Dean of the College of Public Health at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM)\, will share the PLM experience.\n\nJoin us as we learn with these innovators in mental health and wellness programs for students\, frontliners and their families. Together\, we can STOP C.O.V.I.D. DEATHS!

SUMMARY:5th ENVIRONMENTAL AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH FORUM
DESCRIPTION:THE FIFTH ENVIRONMENTAL AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH FORUM\nEnvironmental and Occupational Health Towards the Promotion of Healthy Workplaces\n\nThursday and Friday\, 24 and 25 November 2022\n9 AM to 12 NN Philippine Standard Time\n\nAbout the event\nRationale\n\nThe WHO strategy of “Health for All” in 1980 gave rise to the healthy settings movement\, with the 1986 Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion furthering development of the many strategies towards it. Since then\, the concept of sustainable development also picked up pace. To date\, health promotion and sustainable development have become guiding principles of public health systems. Countries have made various progress in promoting healthy settings while they look to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. However\, all efforts have been stymied by the unexpected interruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nThe WHO defines healthy settings as “places or social contexts where people in daily activities in which environmental\, organizational\, and personal factors interact to affect health and well-being.”\n\nIn the spirit of promoting healthy settings\, this Forum focuses on healthy workplaces to help all strive for a common future of imminent recovery from the pandemic. Across countries and industries\, two of the most confronting challenges towards making work healthy now are:\ndefining the post-pandemic workplace\, as unfamiliar or exacting needs arise when a disaster of the same scale as the pandemic confronts industries; and\, assimilating best practices of non-healthcare workplaces learnt over the course of facing the pandemic.\n\nPeople actively contribute to the creation of a setting. Thus\, challenges are also addressable by the people in that setting through many forms of strategic action\, among them environmental and occupational health (EOH) measures. As the 5th EOH Forum aims to explore the two challenges above\, its theme is “Environmental and Occupational Health Towards the Promotion of Healthy Workplaces”.\n\nObjective\n\nThe EOH Forum aims to provide a venue for discussing innovative interventions in environmental and occupational health from the academe\, regulatory agencies\, professional associations\, and practitioners. Discussions shall contribute to the improvement of the environmental and occupational health conditions in the national\, regional\, and global levels. This event is aligned mainly with Sustainable Development Goal Nos. 3(9)\, 8( 8 ) and 11(1).\n\nLink to the General Registration Form\nhttps://bit.ly/5thEOHForum\n\nOfficial representatives of invited institutions are requested to see the official invitation for the dedicated registration procedure or contact the Organizing Committee through upm.cph.deohup.edu.ph\n\nSource: Deoh UP Manila Facebook
